while at a Sonic Youth concert while Thurston
sort of looks you in the eye and you try
and skip songs to catch up
with the setlist but they
keep jamming or
listen to Sonic Youth’s ‘Daydream Nation’ performed by
flesh-coloured animatronic dolls that
are programmed to move exactly like Sonic Youth play
a note-perfect ‘Daydream Nation’
as their dully heavy hands strike their instruments
identically to where the real Sonic Youth strike them
and your own hands start to feel sticky like they
might be rubber and you wonder
if that girl’s hair in front of you is
a synthetic mix or if it’s human
hair transplanted onto her rubber scalp?
